Hayden visited the Johns Hopkins Carey Business School earlier this month to debate how the geopolitical landscape impacts business in the global economic system. Hayden, presently a principal with the Chertoff Group, served as Director of the NSA from 1999 to 2005, and Director of the CIA from 2006 to 2009. In his speech, delivered on Oct. 12, Hayden outlined the “four tectonics” that could hinder or catalyze American success within the international financial system. Hayden opened the speech by detailing three generalizations concerning the world right now. “We’ve lived in a world more dangerous than the one we reside in today; we’ve never lived in a world more sophisticated; and we’ve by no means lived in a world extra immediate,” Hayden stated.
